Parish Council (PPC)
One of Father David’s first wishes, after being appointed to St James the Great in 2015, was that a Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) be formed. Following an invitation to parishioners to express their interest in serving on the PPC, a day to discuss the concept and formation was arranged at West Malling on 17 October 2015.
The first members were appointed in November, given further training and commissioned on the weekend of 6-7 February 2016. The mission of the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is to: ‘work together as a team to support the mission of Christ within our parish, discern strategies to build a vibrant, inclusive Faith Community, and include and involve the whole parish in response to these needs’.
The PPC is a decision making body working in partnership with the Parish Priest. It organises its work within Pillars and works with parishioners to support the life of the parish. This is shown in the framework pictured below. In addition to the seven pillar leads there are the Chair, the Secretary, a liaison role between our Primary school and Parish and a “Young Voice” role together with Father David.
